Welcome to the Prayer Directory

The Bible calls Christians to be:

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints
— Ephesians 6:18 (ESV)

In light of these commands, the DSC Covenant of Fellowship also says that our church members “commit to watch over one another in brotherly love; [and] to remember one another in prayer.”

You can use this directory as a tool in your personal devotions or in your family worship routines to fulfill these commands. Praying for about twelve members per day will have you praying for our entire church once every two months!

These prayers don’t have to be long or involved. If you know that a member has a specific need, pray briefly for that. If you don’t know this member well, you can always just pray short prayers for their own faith and growth in holiness, as well as for their evangelism (see “What to Pray” for ideas).

Once you’ve prayed for someone, you may consider sending them a short email or text message letting them know that you prayed for them, and what specifically you prayed for.

Lord-Willing, this directory will always be changing and growing. If you notice errors or updates that need to be made in this directory, please email info@dscabq.com.

WHAT TO PRAY

Perhaps the best method is to pray prayers that God has given us in His Word. The Apostle Paul gives us some model prayers for how to pray for our own church in places like Ephesians 1:15-23; 3:14-21; Philippians 1:9-11; and Colossians 1:3-14.

Other biblical prayers include (adapted from Desiring God: “What Should We Pray For?”):

  • Pray that this member would be filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13; cf. Ephesians 3:19)

  • Pray for boldness in proclamation of the Gospel (Ephesians 6:18-19)

  • Pray for healing from sickness or injury (James 5:14-15)

  • Pray for wisdom (James 1:5)

  • Pray for unity and harmony in the church (John 17:20-21)

  • Pray for a mind of discernment (Philippians 1:9-10)

  • Pray for a knowledge of God’s will (Colossians 1:9)

  • Pray to know God better (Colossians 1:10; cf. Ephesians 1:17)

  • Pray for power to comprehend the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:14, 18-19)

  • Pray for strength and endurance (Colossians 1:11; cf. Ephesians 3:16)

  • Pray for a deeper sense of God’s power within them (Ephesians 1:16, 18-19)

  • Pray that their faith would not fail (Luke 22:32)

  • Pray that they might not fall into temptation (Matthew 6:13, 26:41)

  • Pray that they would do good works (Colossians 1:10)

  • Pray for protection from the evil one (Matthew 6:13)
